This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell.  When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences.  We want to show them - not tell them.
For example:  Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus.  But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away.  Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now”  You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man.  We used Adobe Spark to do this.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something.  

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and 

add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference.  

For example,  when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that 

this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair 

nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.

Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr and Mrs Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

I used Google Draw to create a display of my inferences I have made about Mr and Mrs Twit.

This week will be the last week of at home school because we will be returning on Monday. During literacy at home learning we have been reading and researching about Roald Dahl and his books. During maths we have been doing a lot of different things but mainly focusing on shapes. so here is my work.

1 : Literacy = For literacy we have been looking at Roald Dahl and his life as fighter pilot life in World War 2 here is my render forest on Roald Dahl life. Im unable to put it on so here so if i figure out how to I will post it on my blog.

2 : Math = This week we have been looking at angle of shapes im also unable to show this because we have been learning all of this on khan academy.

3 : Friday Tasks = This fridays task was to do a report of what animals would look like if they we round I think it would be pretty funny but you can see for yourself here is my work.



Im so sorry I have been unable to put photos and video on my blog my computer is acting up so im glad to be going back to school so I can use my chrome book . Are you excited to be going back to school?

Happy Friday I hope your having a great day. Today I will be sharing with you some of the tasks we have had to do for this week for our literacy, maths and Friday tasks.

1 : literacy = one of our tasks for literacy this week we have had to write a information report on the scary black mamba. did you know black mambas are they fastest snake so you better watch out but anyway here is my report.

2: maths = some of our tasks for maths were to do some of our khan academy tasks we have been set.
If you don't know what khan academy is it is a non profit app to help kids with there learning. So here are some of my results . I got 7/7 and 4/4.

 

3: Friday tasks = for this weeks Friday tasks  we have been challenged to make a cake design like a beach or house but it has to be edible . My idea is to make a garden with vegetables on top . I will not be able to show you because I will be making it for my mother and grandmother for mothers day.but here is a sample 

4 : Tech tasks = Because of corona we have not been able to go to technology every Wednesday so now we do it online every Friday . Today I have chosen to do the garden fun task. where you have to create a garden and label what veggies, how long the take to grow and much more. I have created mine but i'm not yet down in-till I can talk with some of my family about gardening quite yet. But here is what I have so far .

Happy Friday, today we have been set a task to make you own shop on wheels you have to include what it looks like,what it is called & your own designed menu . Your shop could be all about burgers, chips, ice cream , nachos you can do it about anything but you can only do it about that one thing and the different variety. Mine was all about ice cream and ice cream shakes .
Each scoop is $2 and shake $ 4  and here it is .


Mine is named Little Cream and has really great ice cream and shake flavors .
